Hey people ! ! !
Those of you who received an advanced copy of Dust of a Rose - I'm just letting you know, "If you didn't pay for a copy I'm not signing it unless you come to a "Live Performance"! ( LOL ) And, I hope you love it as much as me!
I can't stop listening to Dust of a Rose - there are numerous songs that are STUCK IN MY BRAIN like a radio song. I've turned some of my co-workers on to you. We call you "The Lady" because your name is a little strange. You are from Philly? We sure our blessed with some great East Coast music pumping out of there. God Bless You, Girl - I love your work. Love "Whoa" but it goes a little to long-#3 is my FAVORITE song. I'm touched by the song with "Sailing" bumpin' in the background - that song touched everybody when it came out - it is ultra cool, - I love "Headbangin" - you really let it out on that one. I can hear your influences working overtime. You have a distinct wonderful God Blessed voice that no other person has. I knew you when.

Posted by: Ejam Maail at March 21, 2004 03:06 AMI absolutely love this CD! I have been playing it from the time I got this joint! I read the credits and I'm so impressed that "Teau" wrote all of the lyrics and produced some of the tracks. I think we have the first "Babyface" for the 2004/2005 year! "Man, I'm hoping for the best baby gurl! Somebody's gonna pick this one up!"
Posted by: Danny McKnight at April 5, 2004 09:50 AMWhat a great CD! The Intro "Shootouts" really set the tone of how you were going to attack the topics of each song. "Whoa" and "Feelin' This" are nice tracks. It has that Jill Scott vibe goin' on. "High" and "Just Friends" are OK, wasn't feelin' them as much. But, "Somethin' Bout" and "Does He" are my songs! These are the tracks that truly make you stand out with the other female neo-soul artists. I honestly think "Somethin' 'Bout" could be a radio single on the older R&B stations...that's how good it is. "Next Stop", "Headbangin" and "If I Were" are cool too. I love the piano- I play. It has that ole'school blues vibe to it.
I kept hearin' some Whitney combined with Toni Braxton...
"Sweet Thing!" What can we say? Evr'body loves that track. I was like "Chaka, is that you and Rufus?" LOL. Sweet. And ya'll did it live. "Just Friends" and "Missing You" are straight too. But, by that time I was rewindin' back to track 7 and 8...
Overall the CD is great. I give props to your producers too - I like their style.
Keep up the good work! You got a fan...can't wait for more.
